03108 RN Emergency Services STRHS-Lawrenceburg Job Description
Report to the Director, the staff RN is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to those patient via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other healthcare team members. If assigned as charge nurse, will serve as resource for coordination of activities on the unit. Responsibilities as charge include, but not limited to, assessment of unit needs, available resources for current and oncoming shift(s) based on patient acuity, volume, individuals and family needs and special clinical procedures or interventions pending.
Reports to: Director of Emergency Services
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process
Plans and implements patient care and teaching based on the total assessment and the age of the patient.
Develop plan of care that is individualized for the patient needs reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team, the patient, and the family as appropriate.
Evaluates and documents the patient response; Participates and cooperates in the unit-based Quality Improvement process.
Supports, maintains, and provides an environment which is supportive of quality patient care based on best practice using a holistic approach to care, and by adhering to effectively using resources and personnel.
Must posses a current and active Registered Nurse License in the State of Tennessee.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. all may be completed within 30 days following orientation before patient care)
