Position Overview
At Phaxis, we recognize that fine motor skills, sensory processing, and independence are crucial to every student’s learning journey. As a school-based Occupational Therapist (OT) serving districts near Hicksville, NY, you’ll design and deliver interventions that help K–12 students develop the skills they need to fully participate in classroom and daily school routines.
Key Responsibilities

Comprehensive Evaluations: Assess students’ sensory processing, fine motor, visual–motor integration, and activities of daily living (ADLs) to determine individual needs

IEP Development & Implementation: Partner in IEP meetings to set and carry out OT-specific goals—crafting individualized plans that target handwriting, self-care, sensory regulation, and school-based tasks

Therapeutic Intervention: Provide one-on-one and small-group “push-in” and “pull-out” sessions that build fine motor skills, hand strength, bilateral coordination, and adaptive techniques

Classroom & Environmental Consultation: Guide teachers and support staff on workstation setups, adaptive seating, sensory diets, and task modifications to foster inclusion

Progress Monitoring & Documentation: Collect data on student performance, review standardized measures and observational notes, adjust strategies as needed, and ensure compliance with district and state regulations

Family & Community Liaison: Collaborate with families and external providers to extend therapy carryover into home and community settings
Job Details

Position Type: Contract, school-based role (option to extend into the 2025–2026 school year based on mutual interest)

Hours: Full-time, 25–40+ hours per week aligned with district calendar and student schedules

Pay Rate: $40–$60+ per hour

Caseload: K–12 students with IEP-driven OT needs; assignments based on district priorities
What You Bring

Credentials: Current New York State OT license or OT R credential (required); provisional permits accepted under supervision if pending full licensure

Education: Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (entry-level OTD or master's level)

Experience: Prior school-based or pediatric OT experience preferred

Skills: Excellent collaboration, creativity in adaptive solutions, and strong communication; familiarity with assistive technology and sensory integration strategies

Authorization: Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
