This role is for a Registered Nurse who will provide quality patient care, supervise other nursing staff (LPNs, CNAs, orientees), and ensure care plans are diligently followed. Key Responsibilities & Competencies:
- Patient Assessment & Planning: Perform nursing assessments within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans. Identify teaching needs and goals in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Care Delivery & Documentation: Provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating). Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Actively participate in patient rehabilitation programs. Provide timely patient information for team conferences.
- Discharge Planning: Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Communication & Continuity of Care: Communicate pertinent patient status changes to ensure continuity of care and safety, including to physicians and charge nurses. Seek consultation for complex clinical decisions.
- Supervision & Delegation: Direct, train, and supervise ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.
- Safety & Environment: Ensure personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies.
- Unit Contribution: Positively contribute to unit functioning, providing calm direction and reassurance to staff, patients, and families. Participate in team-building activities.
- Resource Management: Communicate service needs (supplies, equipment, training) to management. Provide cost-effective care while maintaining quality.
- Leadership: Assume charge responsibility after orientation as requested.
- Professional Development: Actively pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study. Prioritize activities and plan for effective time and staff utilization.
Required & Desired Skills:
- BLS Certification: Required prior to first shift.
- ACLS Certification: Required prior to first shift (specifically for CIRH).
- Clinical Experience: Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience (highly desired).
