Summary:
The Ophthalmology Technician supports clinical and research functions of department by preparing/performing assigned eye procedures on pediatric and adult patients under supervision of physician.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares equipment and patients for ophthalmic testing procedures.
- Assists physicians with performing various ophthalmic testing procedures.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
- Other duties as required.

Technical Expertise
- Experience in ophthalmology is preferred.
- Experience in pediatrics is preferred.
- Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
Education and Experience
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor' degree is preferred. Completion of an approved Ophthalmic Technician/Assistant program preferred.
- Certification: Joint Commission on Allied Personnel in Ophthalmology certification or certification-eligible is preferred.
- Completion of the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO) ophthalmic medical assisting independent study course is required within the first year of employment.
- Years of relevant experience: 0 to 2 years is preferred.
