Summary:
The Oncology Outreach Education Coordinator plans and implements educational activities to meet identified learning needs, utilizing adult and child education principles.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the goals and objectives of the organization and the division.
- Collaborates with the department manager, staff, patients, families, and community resources to assess learning needs and meet the educational goals for the community.
- Plans and implements educational activities to meet identified learning needs, utilizing adult and child education principles.
- Develops and utilizes appropriate evaluation systems to determine the effectiveness of educational activities.
- Promotes collaborative relationships among health care professionals and the community, enhancing understanding of childhood cancer, its treatment, and the oncology/hematology treatment services available.
- Reports on the effectiveness of educational activities and program outcomes annually and, as requested, assists with coordination, planning, and facilitation of community health events as a representative of ACH.
- Participates in processes to improve patient care outcomes.
- Engages in ongoing professional development.
Technical Expertise
- Travel is required.
- Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
- Experience in healthcare is required.
- Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong presentation skills are required.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing is required. Master's degree is preferred
- Licensure: Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in the State of Ohio
- Certification: BLS through the American Heart Association
- Years of relevant experience: RN experience required. Oncology and/or pediatric experience preferred.
