Schedule
This position offers a rotating shift schedule that includes days, evenings, and nights, with availability required on holidays, weekends, and for on-call/callback duties.
Job Description
The Observation Unit cares for adult patients requiring additional observation to determine whether their condition necessitates hospital admission or if they can be safely treated and discharged. This fast-paced environment accommodates a turnover of 20 to 27 patients per day, with an average length of stay of 27 hours, and features 24/7 provider coverage. Nurses will care for a diverse adult population, including both emergency observation and admitted boarding patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Observation Unit.
- Assess patients' conditions and determine the appropriate plan of care.
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes in patient conditions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and health management.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current RN License in New York (NY License ONLY)
- Two years of Med/Surg experience
- Telemetry experience required
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- NIHSS certification preferred
