Job Description
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The RN on 3 North develops specialized skills in the area of patients admitted for medical conditions, providing care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations.
Responsibilities
- Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
- Assesses patient/family needs and creates a culturally relevant, individualized plan of care.
- Promotes and advocates for the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
- Motivates patients and families by teaching self-care concepts for continued healing.
- Systematically evaluates quality and effectiveness of nursing practices.
- Develops trusting relationships with patients and families to understand their needs.
- Administers medications and performs interventions as appropriate.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- NYS RN Licensure Required
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or RQI only)
- One (1) Year Experience serving in a Med/Surg Environment as a Registered Nurse Required
