Med/Surg RN Job Details – Shelby, NC
- Location: Shelby, North Carolina 28150
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1570–$1680
- Healthcare Setting: 5E Surgical Unit, 32 beds (average census: 28)
- Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 8/25/2025 – End: 11/22/2025)
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (1845-0700), 36 hours/week
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Holiday Coverage: Work 75% of holidays during contract
- Floating: Required within region and scope of practice (paid travel time between facilities)
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Parking: Free on-site parking
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active RN license (Registered Nurse) – North Carolina or compact state
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry RN experience
- Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
- Experience with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors preferred
- Ability to float to other regional healthcare facilities as needed
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with diverse medical and surgical diagnoses (joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder and appendectomy procedures, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, SBO, NG tubes)
- Monitor patient status and interpret cardiac rhythms
- Administer medications and manage non-titrating cardiac drips
- Perform wound care, drain and tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
- Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC EMR
- Float to other nursing units or healthcare facilities within the region as required
- Participate in scheduled weekend and holiday rotations
