Description:
Scrubs on general surgical procedures.
-Prepares operating room by setting up table, instruments and supplies according to type of surgery.
-Assures proper functioning of instruments and equipment prior to use and reports needed repairs appropriately.
-Follows established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
-Displays cost-consciousness in the opening of sterile supplies and in the care and handling of surgical instruments.
-Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures and notifies the appropriate people.
-Makes necessary supply deliveries to unit and ancillary departments.
-Maintains a safe and clean room environment; keeps room free from clutter, cleans and stocks rooms, returns equipment and supplies to designated storage locations, helps maintain cleanliness of assigned areas.
-Provides comfort and support for pre-operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patient’s care and privacy.
-Maintains confidentially of patient and department care information.
-Participates in discussions with the Unit Manager/Supervisor regarding job enrichment and career progression.
-Completes required education in a timely manner and participates in on-going department specific educational programs.
-Actively participates in audit monitors and department task forces.
-Supports administrative and department governance changes to job role and operations.
-May train/precept new employees in the Surgical Technologist l role within core assignment.
-Completes required education in a timely manner and participates in on-going department specific educational programs.
-Assist RN in admitting, transferring and discharging patients from the OR.
-Assist leadership in adjusting par levels for efficient supply management.
-Recognizes and participates in continuing education.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
