Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring a CO or compact RN license and advanced cardiac care skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) within a hospital setting
- Unit staffed for 17 beds, providing care for critically ill adults
- Patient cases include open-heart surgeries, ventricular assist devices, heart and lung transplants, ECMO, aortic aneurysm repairs, and complex vascular/thoracic surgeries
- Nurse-to-patient ratios based on acuity, ranging from 1:2, 1:1, to 2:1
- Utilizes Epic for charting
- Required to work 3x12 rotating shifts (day and night) with 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
- Floating within scope to like units may be required
- No on-call requirement
- Care for patients requiring advanced circulatory and respiratory support including complex surgical and transplant cases
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team emphasizing holistic care and supportive education
- First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
- Navy scrubs required
- Holiday and blackout periods restrict time-off approval during certain dates
- Maximum of 10 days RTO approved per 13-week contract, with specific blackout periods
- No blocked scheduling allowed
- Pre-assignment online modules required, completed prior to start
- Candidates who worked for UCHealth or its affiliates in any capacity within the last 2 years may not be considered
- Local candidates residing within 75 miles are eligible at the local pay rate
Requirements
- Active CO or compact state RN license
- American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum of 2 years CVICU or relevant critical care experience
- Experience with advanced cardiac support modalities such as ECMO and ventricular assist devices preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred
