Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring advanced critical care and ICU skills.
Responsibilities
- Position based in the PACU department of a short-term acute care, Magnet, and teaching hospital
- Cares for adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients recovering from a wide range of surgeries including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant
- Unit consists of 38 patient bays with an average daily census of 70-90 patients
- Works Monday through Friday, four 10-hour shifts from 12:00 to 22:30, with rotating start times
- No weekend, on-call, or holiday shifts required
- Floating within hospital or affiliate hospitals as needed
- EPIC charting system is used; EPIC experience required
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Responsible for recovery care of acute post-op patients, including those with artificial airways, invasive monitoring, and transfusion needs
- Unit has dedicated PCT and transport team for support
- Night shift staff must be able to work up pre-op patients as needed
- Candidates must complete required modules and fit testing prior to start
- Must not be a former permanent staff member within the past year at this health system
- Maximum of 7 days requested time off allowed per 13-week contract, with no time off permitted during the first week
- First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
- Return travelers are eligible after a 1-year break; travelers may work for up to 18 months before a 3-month break is required
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- 2-3 years of Level I ICU experience required
- Critical care, inpatient, and Phase I PACU experience required
- Skills in dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting IVs, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients required
- Experience working in a Level I Trauma Center required
- Epic charting experience required
- Pending RN license accepted
- Candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
