Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour day shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week (48 hours available upon request)
• 13-week contract with bi-weekly orientation starting 1/12
• Three weekends required out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday rotation requirement
• Float requirement: First to float within skillset to Deaconess Newburgh (8 miles) and potentially Deaconess Henderson, KY (11 miles) with 2-hour notice
• Mid-shift float possible within same campus
• Patient ratio: Days 1:4-5, PMs 1:5-6, Nights 1:6-7
• Required certifications: Active compact nursing license, AHA BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum two years of strong Med/Surg experience and 1 travel assignment required
• Recent EPIC charting experience required with checkoff class
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs only, no hoodies, sweatshirts, or competing health system logos
• Patient population includes cardiac, CVA/TIA, post-surgical, GI/Urology procedures, and detox/CIWA patients
• Skills include cardiac cath recovery, post-surgical care, NIHSS assessments, drip management, and blood administration
• Teaching hospital environment may require precepting students and new hires
• Associate degree or certificate required
• Three call-ins can result in termination

The organization maintains low turnover rates and features experienced leadership, with the unit manager having over 22 years with the organization. The facility serves as a teaching hospital and provides comprehensive medical and surgical services to the community, emphasizing quality patient care and professional development opportunities.
