Unit: ER/P4 Trauma Center -
Trauma Level?: P4 Trauma Center. Stemi and stroke receiving.
- # Beds/Trauma Bays : 28 beds, 2 designated as Trauma/Code rooms
- Do you have a Fast Track: Pit area is used to fast track
- Do you have a separate Triage area? Yes
- Do you have a separate holding area in the ER?: Intermixed within the ED. ER RN's manage their own ER holds unless Nursing Resources has someone to float.
- Do you have separate Psych/seclusion rooms?: Yes. 2 Psych/seclusion rooms
- Is Security in-house 24/7? Housed in the ER?: Yes. Stationed outside of the ER.
- On average, how many patients do you treat in the ER/day?: 70-75
- Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:04 - Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS. TNCC (effective 10/21/2026 added TNCC Requirement per Tracey Holmes) (removed NIHSS on 2/25/2025 according to Jody Agosti) - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Sepsis, Medical and Surgical conditions, Overdose, Trauma P4, Age specific population is infant, pediatrics, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. COPD. Trauma.
- Experience: Critical care skill set to manage cardiac dysrhythmias, critical drips, BiPap, Cpap, Mechanical ventilation. Radial ABG draw experience.
- Common drips?: All critical care drips, TPA, sedation, paralytics, etc.
- ED Physician/Mid-Levels: ED physicians overlapping currently/Mid-levels
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor?: Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes, Charge nurse without patients. House Supervisor 24/7.
- Nurse aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient Sitters? Ratios? Duties?: ER techs primarily
- ekg, transport, CPR, vital signs, tech duties.
- Is RT in the ER 24/7?: Available 24/7 not dedicated in the ER for the entire time. They are available by call.
- RT Equipment: Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow oxygen, RT administers breathing treatments and draws brachial ABGs, RNs can draw radial ABGs.
- Do you have Monitor Techs in the ER?: Bedside monitors, No Monitor Tech, RNs read strips
- X-Ray or CT in the ER? Transport?: X-ray and CT are not in the ER, they are right outside of the ER. though, ER Techs or nurses transport patients.
- Does Phlebotomy draw labs or RN's draw?: Phlebotomy available 24/7, nurse will assist with difficult sticks.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 6:45 am to 7:15pm; 10:45 am to 11:15pm, 3:00 pm to 3:00 am, 6:45 pm to 7:15 am. Clinical coordinator does schedule. Block schedule allowed. 7a and 11a may alternate start times but would have advanced notice. Other shifts will work the shift that is submitted.
