Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses. The RN advocates for the care of individuals and families, ensuring compliance with all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with state regulations and organizational policies. The RN fosters a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
- Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
- Administer medications safely according to hospital policy.
- Manage resources effectively, including staffing and time management.
- Comply with all nursing practice standards and UHS policies.
- Participate actively in Nursing Shared Governance and improvement initiatives.
- Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education requirements.
- Integrate nursing research and current evidence into practice.
- Provide support for new employees and students.
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- 3 years of current experience working in an Emergency Department (ED).
- Previous traveler experience with knowledge in trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and pediatrics.
- Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
- BLS and ACLS Certification.
- Associate's degree from an accredited school of Nursing is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
- Professional certification in a related nursing specialty is preferred.
