Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with an active Illinois license and at least one year of Med/Surg or MS/Tele experience for a night shift position.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care hospital
- Level I trauma center and Magnet designated hospital
- Night shifts are 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15), including every other weekend
- Average daily census on the unit is 21 patients
- Floating within scope to meet hospital needs is required
- Cerner is the charting system used
- No on-call responsibilities
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Open to local candidates without a radius restriction
- Discuss block scheduling requests with manager
- Ideally no more than 5 days of requested time off
- Any solid color scrubs may be worn
- Parking permit is required but is provided at no cost
- Teaching and community hospital experience, as well as prior charge experience, are preferred but not required
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license must be in hand for consideration
- Minimum of 1 year Med/Surg or MS/Tele experience required
- BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
- Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy skills such as accessing ports, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
- Experience administering medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA required
- Experience with neurological/psychiatric cases including CVA, and with respiratory care such as chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy management
- Familiarity with isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vacs is required
