Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring high-acuity PICU experience and an active NC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Pediatric ICU within a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital
- Unit has 24 beds with an average daily census of 21-23 patients
- Care for a diverse pediatric patient population including respiratory, trauma, DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, renal, orthopedic, surgical, transplants, complex medical, and blood disorders
- Patient ratios vary by acuity (1:1, 1:2, 2:1)
- Shifts are 0645 – 1915 with every other weekend rotation
- Alternate coverage of major holidays required
- Floating as needed within facility to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, or General Peds units
- Uses EPIC for EMR, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, Omnicell, Phillips monitors, and various advanced critical care equipment
- No on-call or call back required for travelers
- Centralized and bedside monitoring in use
- Care for complex, high-acuity pediatric patients in a fast-paced environment
- Supported by health care techs, unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, RT, intensivist, residents, and APPs all available 24/7
- Two-day departmental orientation in addition to facility orientation provided
- Unit culture values teamwork, trust, accountability, and respect
- Navy scrubs required

Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of strong high-acuity Pediatric ICU experience
- Experience with EPIC EMR, Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino, Belmont Rapid Infuser, vasoactive drip titration, invasive lines, ventilator and trach management, g-tube/j-tube, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, sedation and drip management, Alaris & Medfusion pump management, CRRT
- Competency to float to Pediatric CVICU will be discussed during interview
