Job Title: Critical Care / ICU Registered Nurse (High Acuity)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Critical Care Nurse to join our 30-bed high-acuity unit, specializing in Surgical (SICU), Medical (MICU), and Neuro-ICU patient populations. This role involves managing complex cases including open-heart recoveries (CABG), acute stroke interventions, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Clinical Care: Manage critically ill patients requiring CRRT, CABG recovery, and advanced stroke management, including the administration of TNK (Tenecteplase).
- Neurological Monitoring: Perform frequent assessments using the NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) for neuro-critical care patients.
- Documentation: Utilize EPIC for comprehensive electronic medical record charting.
- Unit Flexibility: Maintain a commitment to float to other departments should the ICU experience low census.
Schedule & Attendance Policies
- Rotation: 12-hour shifts; includes every other weekend and every other holiday.
- Attendance Policy: In the event of a sick call on a weekend (Friday 19:00 – Monday 07:00), the staff member is required to make up that shift on the following weekend.
- Time Off: No Requested Time Off (RTO) will be approved for holidays.
Qualifications
- Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
- Experience: Proven expertise in CRRT, Open Heart (CABG), and Neuro/Stroke care is essential.
- Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with the EPIC EHR system is mandatory.
