Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg
Job Details:
• Work in a 32-bed medical-surgical unit caring for surgical patients, mostly bariatric, bladder and orthopedic procedures
• Patient ratios: 1:4-5 during days, 1:5-7 during nights
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• 1 year of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Skills required include MSU skillsets, cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with post-operative patients, wound care, and chest tubes
• Experience with cardiac drips, heparin, and insulin required
• Charting systems: EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis
• Centralized telemetry with tele tech support
• May float to other medical-surgical units (travelers float first)
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Holiday expectations: 1 summer and 1 winter holiday
• One day unit orientation
• Time off approval available up to 2 weeks
• No call requirements
• Scrub color: Any professional color, no denim or camouflage

Facility:
This healthcare facility is a 228-bed teaching hospital that serves as a Level IV Trauma Center with a Level III NICU and Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center. The facility provides comprehensive medical services with 24/7 support including hospitalist coverage, respiratory therapy, phlebotomy services, and occupational, physical, and speech therapy during weekdays. The medical-surgical unit offers excellent support with CNAs, charge nurses, and reception staff available around the clock.
