Position Summary:
The OR Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patient needs before and during surgical procedures while ensuring patient safety at all times. The RN develops, implements, evaluates, and documents individualized care plans, provides leadership within the OR, and maintains effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care (40%) – Assess surgical patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, evaluate outcomes, and adjust care as needed to maintain patient safety.
Room & Team Coordination (30%) – Supervise room activities, anticipate and manage schedule changes, prepare equipment and supplies, assist anesthesia, and monitor the sterile field.
Communication (20%) – Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, OR staff, leadership, and ancillary departments.
Professional Development (10%) – Participate in staff development through in-services, meetings, continuing education, and leadership growth opportunities.
