Facility: University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton

Shift: Nights, 3x12-Hour (19:00 – 07:30)
Schedule: Every Other Weekend
Charting System: Epic (Required)
Float Required: Yes, within specialty and lower acuity units as needed, including sister facility Chestertown
Call Requirement: Not required

Position Overview:
Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on the MS/Tele unit, including cardiac and medical-surgical patients. Monitor patient status, manage medications, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality care.
Job duties:
- Monitor and manage patients on telemetry and MS/Tele units
- Interpret and respond to dysrhythmias; use rapid response/code teams as needed
- Administer IV therapy, manage central/peripheral lines, PICC lines, and blood products
- Manage medications, including PCA and heparin protocols
- Provide care for patients with neurological, orthopedic, renal, respiratory, and GI conditions
- Assist with peritoneal dialysis documentation and clamping/unclamping as needed
- Follow isolation precautions, wound care, and unit protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including PT, respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
Requirements:
Licensure: RN license (MD state license required)
Experience: Minimum 1-2 years nursing experience; first-time travelers accepted
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI required; NIHSS preferred
Other requirement: Comfortable floating within hospital units as needed

Unit: 3 MultiSpecialty Care (MS/Tele)
Patient Ratios: 1:5–6
Patient Population: Adults, Geriatrics
Patient Diagnoses: Chest pain, abdominal pain, UTI, renal issues (peritoneal dialysis), trauma/orthopedics
Number of Beds: 30
Daily Census: 28
Special Procedures/Unit Details: Observation unit with quick turnover; peritoneal dialysis exchanges initiated by dialysis nurses, RNs responsible for clamping/unclamping and documentation
Vaccine Policy:
COVID-19 – Not Required; Flu Vaccine – Required (no exemptions)
Local Radius Rule:
Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the hospital to be eligible
