Job Details:
• 1:6 patient ratio for all shifts (days, nights, and weekends)
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Previous surgical experience required for this fast-paced inpatient surgical unit
• Every other weekend requirement
• BLS certification required
• 40-hour orientation provided
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
• Cannot guarantee block scheduling but will attempt to group shifts together when available
• Care for patients aged 12 and above including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Will accept pediatric surgical patients aged 12 and above depending on surgical procedure
• Required to work holidays based on RTO policy: one holiday if one falls during assignment, one of two if two holidays occur, two of three if three holidays occur
• Must live more than 50 miles from facility (local candidates not accepted)
• Zero-tolerance THC policy with drug screening required during compliance and on day one
• Fit testing required with clean-shaven policy (exemptions require provider letter approval)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Skills include telemetry monitoring, post-operative care, IV management, wound care, chest tube management, colostomy care, and various surgical procedures
• Handle general surgery, abdominal surgery, urological surgery, orthopedic surgery, hysterectomy, mastectomy, spine surgery, and bariatric surgery cases
Facility:
This healthcare facility operates a 24-bed medical-surgical unit with a daily census of 18 patients, providing comprehensive inpatient surgical services. The facility offers extensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and various other specialized services. The organization maintains high standards for patient care and safety, with strict compliance policies and comprehensive orientation programs for healthcare professionals.
