🏥 Unit Overview – Stepdown (33 Beds)
- Patient Ratio: 1:4–5
- CNA Ratio: 1:10 (varies by census)
- Shift Times:
- Days: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Nights: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: As needed
- Floating: MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, Skilled Care
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
📋 Certifications Required
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Driver’s License (Required at submittal – used to confirm 50-mile radius rule)
🧑⚕️ Patient Population
Young adults through geriatrics with:
- Sepsis
- STEMI
- CHF
- Chest Pain
- COVID
- Stroke
- Renal Failure
- COPD
- DKA
- Complex multisystem failure cases
💉 Drip Experience Required (Titration Required)
Common drips:
- Heparin
- Amiodarone
- Cardizem
- Nitroglycerin
- Insulin
- IV antibiotics
- Maintenance IV meds
🫁 Equipment Used
- BiPAP
- Airvo (High Flow)
- Telemetry (RNs must read & interpret own strips)
👩⚕️ Support on Unit
- Charge Nurse on each shift (takes assignment)
- CNAs available
- No separate Monitor Techs (RNs interpret strips)
