PCU RN – 5N (28 Beds)
Certifications Required: BLS, NIHSS
Local Rate: Within 80 miles → rate reduced by $8/hr
⚠️ Must disclose if candidate has ever worked for Marshfield. If so, must be separated for 6 months prior to submission.
All clinicians must clock in/out at facility.
Ratios
Days: 1:4–5
Nights: 1:5–6 (based on acuity)
Patient Population
Neuro-focused unit:
Stroke, seizure, Guillain-Barré, Myasthenia Gravis
Spinal injuries, thrombectomies, TNK/TPA (24 hrs post)
Endovascular cases, AMS, dementia
Trauma/ortho injuries (hematomas, bleeds, falls on thinners, farm/MVA accidents)
Experience Required
2 years MS/PCU/ICU experience
MUST have worked in similar setting within last 1 year
Must have drip experience
Highly prefer home trach/vent experience (willing to train on vents)
Open to first-time travelers
Clinical Details
Titrated Drips: Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, Insulin
Charge Nurse:
Nights: Full assignment
Days: Reduced assignment
Aides: Days 1:9 | Nights 1:12
RT Equipment: Vents, Trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, ETCO₂
Telemetry: Central monitor in separate area
Scheduling
12-hour shifts: 7A–7:30P / 7P–7:30A
Self-scheduling (opens 6 weeks in advance; manager balances)
Travel duos not guaranteed same shifts
Requirements
Weekends: Every other Fri/Sat/Sun
Holidays: 2 of 3 winter holidays; otherwise every other
Call: None
Floating: Yes – to sister MS units (mixed care, cardiac, general, ortho, heme/onc, etc.)
Scrubs: Any solid color
Orientation: 1 general shift + 1 preceptor shift
