Job Opportunity
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse with a specialty in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry (MS/Tele) to join our team. This position will involve night shifts with a schedule of three 12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15. The nursing unit has a primary focus on orthopedics and joint surgeries.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a Medical-Surgical and Telemetry setting.
- Monitor patients' cardiac statuses, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
- Utilize Rapid Response and Code teams as necessary to ensure patient safety.
- Administer IV therapy and perform phlebotomy, including peripheral line care and management.
- Implement respiratory care utilizing nasal cannulas and other non-invasive airway management techniques.
- Adhere to isolation precautions and proper use of PPE.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, and Respiratory Services.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Med/Surg and Ortho nursing.
- Certifications: BLS required; additional certifications in Orthopedics preferred.
- Skills:
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- IV therapy and phlebotomy
- Respiratory management with nasal cannula
Work Environment
The nursing unit operates with an average daily census of 34 patients and has 48 rooms and beds. Patient care ratios are maintained at 1:5 for days, nights, and weekends.
Patient Demographics
This unit serves adults and geriatric patients with a surgical focus, including total knee replacements, total hip replacements, spinal fusions, and occasional medical overflow cases such as hysterectomies and trauma.
Additional Information
- Floating Requirement: Yes, as needed based on census levels.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
- Daily Census: 34 patients.
- Special Equipment: Frequent use of wound vacs and drains.
- Charting System: Epic required.
Note: RTO (Requests for Time Off) after booking is not permitted, and will be handled in accordance with unit policies.
