Job Description
The Step-Down Registered Nurse (RN) will provide care for patients requiring close monitoring and specialized treatment in a Step-Down unit. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of recent Step-Down experience and be adept in managing complex patient needs.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patients' vital signs and neurological status.
- Administer medications, including emergency medications and cardiac drips.
- Perform frequent assessments and documentation of patient progress.
- Manage and provide post-operative care, including handling TR bands and caring for patients post-heart catheterization or vascular procedures.
- Utilize cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management skills.
- Maintain and manage intravenous (IV) access, including PICC line management.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention policies and isolation precautions.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Step-Down nursing experience.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
- Experience in cardiac telemetry and emergency response procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, specifically Allscripts.
- Previous charge experience is preferred.
