Make a meaningful difference as a travel Occupational Therapist in Salt Lake City, UT. We are seeking a dedicated clinician to support an acute care hospital rehabilitation team by helping patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities regain or improve daily skills. The position involves working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, using EPIC for documentation, and supporting a high-acuity, varied caseload including neuro, multi-trauma, orthopedics, and medically complex patients.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Occupational Therapy (MSOT, OTD) from an accredited program.
- Current Utah Occupational Therapy license required prior to start.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Active NBCOT certification or proof of successful NBCOT completion as appropriate.
- Previous acute care experience recommended. ICU experience preferred.
- Demonstrated competence with neuro re-education, ADL/self-care training, transfer and gait training, wheelchair training, cognitive re-education, upper-extremity ROM/positioning, splinting, and home safety/family training.
- Experience with adaptive equipment for dressing, bathing, and self-feeding required. Experience using mobility and lift systems (ARJO, Liko, powered lifts) preferred.
- Ability to perform thorough chart review and interpret lab values and weight-bearing precautions.
- Strong documentation, time management, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to follow unit policies such as seeing or acknowledging evaluations within 24 hours and checking in with nursing before and after patient interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in orthopedic same-day-surgery (SDS) coverage and late/mid ortho shifts.
- Previous work with bariatric equipment and powered mobility devices.
- Familiarity with stroke protocols and total joint care pathways.
Assignment Details
- Shift hours: 07:00 to 19:00.
- Schedule patterns include alternating weekly rotations such as Wednesday–Saturday / Thursday–Saturday and Sunday–Tuesday / Sunday–Wednesday.
- Generally 10-hour shifts. Will be assigned 1–2 late day orthopedic shifts per two-week pay period.
- May be required to help cover same-day-surgery (SDS) ortho late and mid shifts Monday through Friday.
- May be cross-trained to float to the acute rehab unit to support staffing needs.
- Patient load typically ranges from 9–14 patients per day.
- Required dress code: gray scrub top and black scrub pants with closed-toed shoes; gray business casual top and black pants acceptable. No logos, jeans, leggings, or shorts.

Impacting Patient Care
This role supports a 325-bed hospital with Level II trauma, certified comprehensive stroke services, and total joint certification for hip and knee replacements. The therapy department is a multidisciplinary team with shared office space across OT/PT/SLP disciplines. Clinicians will work with equipment including Sara Stedys, Stryker stroke/cardiac chairs, powered bariatric chairs, ARJO and Liko lifts, and a range of adaptive devices. Clinicians contribute to care pathways for stroke, total joint, and same-day-surgery patients and help prepare patients for discharge to home when appropriate.
