Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a registered nurse (RN) specialized in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) in High Point, North Carolina. This role involves providing advanced care to critically ill cardiac and hemodynamic patients, including those post open heart surgery, with organ support devices, and neurological cases. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:

- Schedule: Nights, 8 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; 1 year of ICU experience; current licensure as a registered nurse; ability to perform cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, arterial lines, titration of drips, ventilator care, vascular lines, chest tubes or drains, post-procedure site care including trans radial bands and femoral sheaths, CRRT, advanced cardiac support devices such as Impella and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), and management of post pulmonary artery thrombectomy cases.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Swan-Ganz catheters, temporary pacemakers, and post pulmonary artery thrombectomy procedures.
- Float: Float rotation within scope of practice to MedSurg may be required; if floating to MedSurg, the patient ratio caps at 1:4.
- Support within the Department: CNA support available; charge nurse serves as resource; rapid response team active 24/7; hospitalists, intensivists, and telemetry monitoring available; department utilizes EPIC electronic medical records and advanced monitoring equipment including Philips IntelliVue monitors, CRRT NxStage, and Edwards Lifesciences FloTrac.
- Technology/Equipment: EMR system EPIC; IV pumps Baxter; Med Dispensing Omnicell; monitors Philips IntelliVue; equipment for CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and temperature management (e.g., Arctic Sun).
- Orientation: One-week orientation covering unit-specific protocols, EPIC training, and online learning modules, followed by 12-hour departmental-specific shifts with a preceptor.
- Additional notes: Scrub color is royal blue; free parking is provided; the unit culture emphasizes a positive, team-focused environment working as one team.
