Unit Overview

56-bed Adult PCU/Telemetry Unit
Common diagnoses:
- CHF, ARF, COPD
- Sepsis, Pneumonia
- DKA, Diabetes
- GI Bleeds
- Chest Pain, Arrhythmias
- Pulmonary Emboli
- Respiratory Failure
- Syncope, Seizures
- Overdose & Delirium Tremors

Ratios

PCU/Tele RN: 1:4
Med/Surg RN: 1:5
CNA: 1:8

Cardiac & vasoactive drip titration

Continuous bladder irrigation

Orientation

2 days classroom/online education
2 precepted 12-hour shifts

Scheduling

Every other weekend (or 50% of weekends)
Every other holiday
No scheduled call
Required huddles:
- 06:25 AM
- 06:25 PM

Additional Notes

Team nursing model (RN paired with LPN)
May be asked to precept students
Monthly pain-score documentation audits (90% compliance goal)
❌ No RTO during the first 3 weeks of August (Sturgis Bike Rally)
