🏥 Cath Lab RN Job Breakdown
Shift: 4x10 Days (07:30–18:00) + Call
Weekly Hours: 40 hrs
Facility: Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, VA
Unit: Cardiac Cath Lab (6 Procedure Rooms)
Charting: EPIC
Patient Volume: 15–20 cases/day
🩺 Core Responsibilities
- Cath Lab Procedures: ~20–22 hrs/week
Assist with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures including LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stents, atherectomy, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and MitraClip. - Hemodynamic & Cardiac Monitoring: ~6–8 hrs/week
Continuous monitoring, EKG interpretation, dysrhythmia recognition, rapid response, and patient stabilization. - Pre/Post Procedure Care: ~5–6 hrs/week
Patient preparation, sedation monitoring, recovery care, and discharge education. - Documentation & Coordination: ~3–4 hrs/week
EPIC charting, procedure documentation, interdisciplinary communication. - Equipment & Sterile Technique: ~3–4 hrs/week
Operation and management of cath lab equipment, sterile field maintenance, supply management.
📞 Call Requirements
- 7 on-call shifts every 6 weeks
- 5 late shifts every 6 weeks
- 1 full weekend call (Fri–Sun) every 6 weeks
- 1 Saturday elective case shift every 6 weeks
- Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes when called
📌 Key Requirements
- BLS & ACLS required
- Previous Cath Lab RN experience required
- First-time travelers not accepted
- Active RN license or pending VA license accepted
- Experience with advanced interventional cardiology procedures required
- Strong fluoro, hemodynamic monitoring, and emergency response experience
