Job Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to apply the nursing process to the care of veteran patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room. This includes ensuring appropriate documentation that reflects the assessment of patient needs, interdisciplinary treatment plans, clinical interventions, and evaluation of patients' responses to treatments. Additionally, this role involves assigning and evaluating the work of non-nursing direct care providers assigned to the operating room.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
- Effective communication skills to interact with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Work Schedule
5 days a week, 8-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. This position does not require call, weekend, or holiday shifts.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital operating room is required. The candidate must possess the ability to scrub and circulate for all types of surgical cases. Competence in the following areas is essential:
- General Surgery (laparoscopic and robotic)
- Orthopedics/Spine/Podiatry
- Urology
- ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat)
- Vascular Surgery
Education Requirements
- Required Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
- Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Certifications & Licensure
- Required Certifications:
- BLS - American Heart Association
- New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license
- Preferred Certifications:
- ACLS - American Heart Association
- PALS
Language Requirements
Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) is required.
