Care Career is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Madison, Wisconsin.
Job Description & Requirements

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care (pre-op, intra-op, and post-op support)
- Assist surgeons during high-acuity neuro and general OR procedures
- Function as scrub nurse and/or circulating nurse
- Maintain strict sterile technique and infection control standards
- Prepare OR suite, instruments, and advanced neuro surgical equipment
- Support complex procedures such as:
- Craniotomy (tumor removal)
- Aneurysm clipping
- Spinal fusions (cervical/lumbar)
- Laminectomy/discectomy
- VP shunt placement
- Work in hybrid OR and neuro-specialty cases
- Ensure accurate specimen handling and labeling
- Monitor patient safety using universal protocol (time-out procedure)
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical tech teams
- Respond to intraoperative emergencies in high-risk surgical settings
Requirements
Active RN license (WI or Compact)
Minimum 2 years OR experience (recent acute care required)
Neuro OR experience mandatory (hard stop requirement)
Experience in Level I Trauma OR strongly required
BLS certification (AHA only)
Must pass facility-specific testing (telemetry exam required
