Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse – Travel Assignment
Position Title: Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse – Travel RN
Location: New York State
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights – 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Schedule: 3x12 Hour Shifts
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours per Week
Radius Rule: Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility may be considered local and subject to local rates.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. The ideal candidate will have recent Emergency Room experience, strong critical care skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The ED RN will provide comprehensive patient care, perform rapid assessments, prioritize treatment needs, and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in a busy Emergency Department setting.
- Perform triage and prioritize care based on patient acuity.
- Identify and intervene in life-threatening situations quickly and effectively.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to physicians and care teams.
- Utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment in emergency and trauma situations.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the MEDITECH Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and ancillary staff.
- Adhere to all facility, state, and regulatory standards related to patient care and safety.
- May be required to function as Charge Nurse based on departmental needs.
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Minimum recent Emergency Department experience required.
- Previous Travel Nursing experience required.
- MEDITECH EMR experience required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.
- Strong assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Critical Care experience.
- Previous Charge Nurse experience.
- Experience managing high-acuity and trauma patients.
- Leadership and delegation experience in an emergency setting.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to recognize and address safety concerns for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to safely lift, transfer, and position patients utilizing proper equipment and techniques.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in stressful emergency situations.
- Must successfully complete facility-required dysrhythmia testing during orientation/probation.
- Must obtain defibrillation certification within six months of employment if required by facility policy.
- Must be IV Therapy, Medication Administration, and Phlebotomy certified during orientation.
