Job Summary:
An Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) is needed in Springfield, Illinois, to provide specialized care in a high-volume Emergency Department. The position involves working 12-hour night shifts, either 3x12 or 4x12 shifts from 3:00 PM to 3:30 AM. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day and must meet all specified qualifications. This role demands a minimum of two years of ER experience, including proficiency in emergency procedures and Cerner electronic medical record charting.
Job Details:
- Location: Springfield, Illinois
- Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 shifts from 3:00 PM to 3:30 AM (minimum 36 hours per week)
- Required Qualifications: Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC); Illinois RN license or in process with an ETA; minimum 2 years' emergency department experience; Cerner electronic medical record experience; active Illinois license in hand at time of submission
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trauma level I center, Cerner EMR, and community hospital settings
- Clinical Skills: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, patient care for multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, IV therapy including starting IVs and blood product administration, management of traumatic injuries such as spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury, management of respiratory emergencies including intubation and chest tube insertion, proficiency in procedural sedation, and triage expertise
- Special Procedures: Blood transfusions, blood draws, procedural sedation, chest tube management, spinal immobilization, and cardiac monitoring
- Additional Requirements: Full compliance with vaccination policies, including annual flu shot; submission of 2-3 interview times upon application; SSN and DOB at submission; verification of Illinois RN license in hand; ability to float within hospital or to affiliate facilities; adherence to all module completion deadlines on the first day of assignment
- Notes: First day of the assignment is virtual at-home; candidate must review all modules and ensure timely completion. The candidate must be separated from prior employment for 12 months before applying as a traveler.
