Job Summary:
A registered nurse (RN) specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) located in Englewood, Colorado. This position involves providing high-quality care in a fast-paced, high-acuity cardiac and thoracic surgical unit. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Location: Englewood, Colorado
- Shift: Day Shift, 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, with a minimum of one year of current acute care PCU hospital experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with chest tube management (including removal), pacer wire management, 12-lead EKGs, oxygen management including BIPAP and heated high-flow devices, and medication drips such as heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, dobutamine, milrinone, and ketamine.
- Responsibilities include managing post-cardiac catheterization care (such as right and left heart caths, TAVRs, ablations, etc.), thoracic surgery recovery, post-open heart surgical patient care, and vascular surgery post-operative care.
- Equipment used includes telemetry monitors, transport monitors, suction, feeding pumps, trachs, Bipap, Cpap, heated high-flow, chest tubes, Foley catheters, pacer wires, IV pumps, and sequential compression device (SCD) pumps.
- Additional details: Staffing includes one charge RN per shift, with five to eight RNs and two to four patient care technicians (PCTs) on day shift; similar staffing on night shift. Patient ratios are typically 1:4, often in a 1:5 ratio.
