Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU NEURO) nurse position in Wausau, Wisconsin. This 13-week assignment offers an opportunity to work in a specialized neuro unit with a focus on stroke, traumatic brain injury, head injury, and neurosurgery patients. The role involves providing expert neuro assessments and basic bedside ICU procedures, with a schedule of 12-hour night shifts.
Job Details
- Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
- Schedule: Nights, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS (American Heart Association or ARC), ACLS (American Heart Association or ARC), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), associate degree or certificate, minimum 2 years of experience with at least one travel assignment preferred in Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU, strong assessment skills in neuro. Experience as a Neuro Interventionalist is a plus.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with EPIC charting, familiarity with cerebrospinal fluid drains, external ventricular drains, ICP monitoring, and neuro-specific bedside procedures including bolt and drain placements.
- Float: Float rotation may be required between Neuro Critical Care ICU and Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit, as well as other inpatient units.
- Additional Information: This role involves managing neuro assessments, bedside ICU procedures including line placement and intubation, and handling neuro-specific interventions such as bolt and drain placements with Neurosurgery. Candidates must be diligent, adaptable, and able to work independently to complete tasks timely. During flu season, unvaccinated travelers are required to wear masks at all times.
