Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nursing in San Luis Obispo, California. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care in the Emergency Department for a diverse patient population from newborns to geriatrics. Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Nursing, current RN license in the state of practice, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within 6 months of hire or transfer, current certification in AHA-BLS, AHA-ACLS, and AHA-PALS, at least 2 years of experience in emergency nursing or a similar setting, recent Epic Electronic Medical Record system experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent, familiarity with Cerner Electronic Medical Record system
- Additional Information:
- Completes accurate triage assessments and notifies emergency physicians of abnormal signs and vital signs 100% of the time.
- Reviews and completes patient orders in a timely manner.
- Provides medication side effects teaching to all patients and includes this information in discharge instructions.
- Recognizes symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress and other emergencies, providing appropriate interventions.
- Competent in medication administration, intravenous therapy including blood products, care and maintenance of indwelling catheters and drains, and safe use of critical care medical equipment.
- Interprets ECG rhythms and manages care during life-threatening situations such as Code Blue, Code Stroke, Sepsis, and Trauma Activations.
- Maintains detailed and timely documentation of all nursing care and patient responses.
- Performs safety and quality control checks regularly.
- Coordinates safely and efficiently with inpatient units during patient admissions from the ER.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure quality patient care and operational efficiency.
