Shift: Night | 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every Third Weekend
Job Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, postpartum, and antepartum.
- Perform maternal and fetal assessments, including continuous fetal heart rate and contraction monitoring.
- Monitor labor progression and assist with vaginal deliveries and emergency obstetric procedures.
- Provide immediate postpartum care to mothers and newborns, ensuring a safe transition after delivery.
- Care for normal newborns and Special Care Nursery infants, including infant IV starts, IV management, and High Flow Oxygen therapy.
- Perform patient triage and assess obstetric emergencies to determine appropriate interventions.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other prescribed treatments while monitoring maternal and fetal responses.
- Educate patients and families on labor, childbirth, postpartum recovery, newborn care, breastfeeding, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure quality patient care.
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes using Epic.
- Maintain compliance with infection prevention practices, patient safety standards, and evidence-based obstetric nursing care.
Requirements
- Active RN License.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience.
- Newborn Nursery experience required.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current NRP certification.
- AWHONN Intermediate certification required.
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification required.
- ACLS and AWHONN Advanced certifications preferred.
- Experience with Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, Postpartum, Triage, and Newborn Care.
- Experience caring for Special Care Nursery infants, including infant IV starts/management and High Flow Oxygen.
- Previous Charge Nurse and Community Hospital experience preferred.
- Traveler's permanent residence must be more than 50 miles from the facility.
