Job Summary:
The Baltimore location is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) with specialties in Intermediate Care Units (IMCU). The role involves providing high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced surgical step-down unit, primarily caring for patients recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries. The position demands experience with high-acuity patients and managing complex post-operative cardiovascular cases, including patients with Mechanical Circulatory Support devices and those recovering from heart and lung transplants.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours shift times, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, at least 2 years of cardiac open heart recovery experience, previous travel assignment experience, strong Surgical Intensive Medical Care (IMC) experience, EPIC electronic medical record system experience necessary for management of high acuity IMC patients.
- Preferred Qualifications: Critical Care Certification; orientation sessions on the second and fourth Monday of the month.
- Additional Information: The unit features 32 beds dedicated to post-operative cardiac, vascular, and thoracic patients, with 12 beds monitored continuously for cardiac function and the remaining beds for telemetry or non-monitored care. Nurse-patient ratios typically are 1:3 during the day and 1:4 at night. Candidates should have prior experience caring for patients 1 or more days post-CABG, valve repairs, and valve replacements. Applicants with previous employment at any Johns Hopkins Health System facility must have been away for at least one full year before reapplying as a traveler.
