Job Summary:
The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Registered Nurse (RN) position is based in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized critical care to adult and geriatric patients across various ICU settings, including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic, Burn ICU, and Trauma ICU. The nurse will work a 12-hour day shift, with responsibilities encompassing a broad range of high-acuity patient care and operating in a Magnet certified hospital that serves as a Level 1 Trauma Center. Job Details:
- Schedule: Day shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/17/2026
- Required Qualifications: WI RN license or compact RN license, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification, 5 years of recent ICU experience, strong patient assessment skills, and basic arrhythmia knowledge. Proven experience with adult populations in ICU, IMC/Progressive/General care units, and cardiac monitoring is essential.
- Preferred Qualifications: Charge nurse experience, additional certifications in trauma or critical care, and prior experience in a Level I trauma or academic hospital setting.
- Additional Information: Candidates must pass a telemetry interpretation exam with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts. The exam tests recognition of lethal rhythms and arrhythmias specific to adult and pediatric patients. Strict criteria apply, and failure may require submission of additional certification before attempting again. The role includes float rotation across ICU specialties as needed.
