Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) nurse position located in Omaha, Nebraska. This role involves providing high-quality care in a Level I Trauma Center with pediatric certification and comprehensive stroke center capabilities. The ER handles a wide range of high-acuity cases, including trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and strokes, with staff working in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Location: Omaha, Nebraska
- Shift Schedule: 12-hour night shifts beginning on 08/17/2026, with scheduling varying to meet department needs, including weekends and holidays.
- Qualifications: Certifications required include Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is preferred. A driver's license is required at submission.
-Experience Requirements: 2 years of clinical experience in emergency or trauma nursing.
- Unit Notes: The ER has 20 beds, including trauma, obstetric, hallway beds, and a Fast Track with six beds. The department operates with staffing ratios suitable for high acuity care, including specialized staff such as nurse aides, EMTs, and paramedics. Staff must interpret patient strips independently and be competent in a high-pressure setting. Orientation includes one week of onboarding plus shifts at designated locations.
- Other Details: The ER maintains in-house security 24/7, with a dedicated triage area and multiple zones, including trauma and observation units. The facility employs both physicians and mid-level providers, with charge nurses present on each shift. Staff may be required to float to additional units weekly. RTO (Return to Office) time must be requested in advance within the contract limits.
- Additional notes: The environment is fast-paced with high patient acuity levels, requiring quick decision-making and clinical competence.
