Job Summary
Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) registered nurse position in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized cardiac surgical care within a Level I trauma center, supporting complex thoracic, vascular, and cardiovascular procedures.
Job Details
- Schedule: 10-hour shifts, Days, minimum of 40 hours per week starting on 08/17/2026
- Required Qualifications: Certifications include BLS required; ACLS preferred. A minimum of 3 years of experience as an OR OH nurse, with trauma or medical-occupational experience before, is required. Must hold an active Illinois license in hand or in application process.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Thoracic procedures such as Aortic Aneurysm repair, Mitral valve replacement, TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement), and VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery). Experience with vascular procedures including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, and Vein stripping.
- Special Procedures/Unit Details: Cardiac and thoracic surgeries, vascular procedures, endoscopic procedures including bronchoscopy and EGD, Whipple procedure experience required.
- Additional Experience: Prior Level I trauma center experience preferred; teaching hospital experience advantageous.
- Additional Requirements: Must have active Illinois license; no more than 5 RTO days permitted; ability to work 2 major holidays; floating within scope may be required within the hospital or to nearby facilities.
- Notes: First-time travelers accepted; on-call nights (1-2 per week and every 5th weekend); parking permit provided at no cost; orientation scheduled for the first day, with required modules completed remotely.
