Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist - Pediatrics - Charlotte, North Carolina. This position offers an exciting opportunity to provide specialized respiratory care exclusively to pediatric patients at a dedicated childrens hospital. The role involves working nights in a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, supporting a dynamic team in a teaching environment.
Job Details
- Position: Respiratory Therapist - Pediatrics
- Shift Time: Nights (Shift hours: 6:45 PM 7:15 AM or 6:45 PM 7:15 AM)
- Schedule: Every 6 weeks, with weekend rotation every other week, working a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) with at least 2 years of pediatric Respiratory Therapy experience from the past 5 years, including ventilator experience with IPPV/NIPPV, and certifications in BLS, PALS, and ACLS; valid drivers license and insurance may be required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ED, ICU, PICU, or CVICU pediatric units, and prior exposure to EMR systems such as EPIC (testing out of EPIC is required for faster onboarding).
- Patient Types/Diagnoses: Care for pediatric patients, including neonates and children, with diagnoses relevant to pediatric respiratory needs.
- Support Within Department: Respiratory leadership available within the department.
- Technology/Equipment: Use of ventilators (IPPV/NIPPV); additional equipment details to be discussed during interview.
- Float: LCH respiratory therapists will not be floated to another facility due to specialty needs.
- Orientation: 3 days of onboarding, including computer training, equipment familiarization, and facility walk-through; if experienced with multiple ICU environments, orientation includes one day in each unit.
- Scheduling: Nights, with weekend rotation and holiday work expected at 75%. Up to six days of RTO (absence) approved, excluding holidays.
