Job Summary
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse - [Location]. This position involves providing specialized care to newborns in a Level II NICU setting. Responsibilities include managing postpartum mothers and their babies, attending deliveries, and delivering quality neonatal care in accordance with acuity standards.
Job Details

- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
- Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), STABLE Certification
- Minimum Experience: 2 years of NICU experience required
- Location Requirements: Must be in state for week of orientation; must be able to attend deliveries and postpartum care
- Responsibilities include caring for postpartum mothers and her infants as a couplet up to a 1:3 ratio based on acuity standards, attending deliveries, and providing neonatal care for diagnoses such as TTN, RDS, hyperbilirubinemia, and hypoglycemia.
- The unit is a Level II NICU with 6 beds, including 2 overflow beds, and staffed with a neonatal nurse practitioner 24/7, neonatologists available via telehealth, and specialized equipment such as vents, BCPAP, and HHFNC.
- Charge nurses take assignments, and RNs are required to float to assist in other departments as needed.
- Shifts include weekends and holidays, with a 6-week rotating schedule, and mandatory call shifts every 12 weeks.
- Unit provides specific orientation and requires compliance with hospital policies, including floating policies.
