What the Facility Wants (Requirements & Expectations)
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of strong Med-Surg experience, at least 1 travel assignment, and Trauma Level II experience.
- License & Certifications: Current active compact nursing license, AHA BLS, and NIHSS required upon submittal.
- Radius & Local Rules: No local candidates (strict 40-mile radius rule applies).
Clinical & Unit Overview
- Unit Details: 32-bed observation unit. Patient ratios on nights are 1:5–7, supported by LPNs and CNAs (charge nurses take an assignment on night shifts).
- Patient Population & Skills: Chest pain, abdominal pain, flank pain, CVA/TIA, generalized weakness, awaiting placement, and geri-psych placement. Skills required include PIV insertion and stable drips (Heparin, Lasix, Protonix).
- Charting System: Recent EPIC experience required (must complete a check-off class).
- Floating Requirements: First to float within skillset. Potential to float to Deaconess Midtown campus (8 miles apart) or Deaconess Henderson (KY – 11 miles), with 2 hours' notice given for cross-campus floats.
Scheduling & Facility Policies
- Weekends & Holidays: 3 weekends out of every 6-week schedule; every other holiday.
- Attendance Policy: 3 call-ins can result in contract termination.
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs (no competing health systems or agency logos).
