This position involves working within a Level I trauma center designated acute care hospital. The role entails providing specialized surgical nursing care across various service lines, supporting trauma, general, neurology, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, and urology cases, with occasional on-call duties. The focus is on delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment aligned with facility standards.
Job Details
- Position / Specialty: Operating Room (OR)
- Shift: 4x10s, 13:00 22:00, with a minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: BLS certification, IL license in hand or in application process, minimum 2.5 years of OR experience, experience with Level I trauma cases, general OR and trauma experience, and Bariatric, Neurology, Orthopedic, Plastic, Transplant, and Urology procedure skills.
- Preferred Qualifications: CNOR certification and Cerner charting system experience.
- Responsibilities include assisting with laparoscopic and open procedures such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple, cervical fusion, craniotomy, discectomy, lumbar fusion, arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, open and closed fracture reduction, microvascular free flaps, organ donation, cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, and trauma-related surgeries involving amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and motor vehicle accidents.
- Additional Requirements: Active IL license, willingness to work on-call, float within scope as needed (rarely), and adhere to requested time off approvals.
- Submission Requirements: Must review role details, confirm understanding and commitment, verify housing arrangements, and provide interview availability. SSN and DOB required at submission. Candidates must work at least 2 of the 3 major holidays.
