PATIENT INFORMATION - Patient Demographics: Adults
- Patient Volume/Census: Variable (unscheduled)
- Rounding: Inpatient rounding as needed if procedures performed
- Case Mix: Urology cases including kidney stones, hematuria, testicular torsion, UTIs, Foley catheter consultations
FACILITY INFORMATION - Trauma Level: Level II
- EMR System: Cerner (inpatient), GE Centricity (outpatient)
- Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage – hub facility for outlying hospitals
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE REQUIRED PROCEDURES - Possibly cystoscopy and/or stent placement for hematuria
- Kidney stone treatment with possible extraction or holmium laser lithotripsy
- Torsion of testicle (rare occurrence)
- UTI management
- Consultation with ED or other providers for Foley Catheter placement
- Rounding if procedure performed and patient in house
JOB REQUIREMENTS - Licenses: Active PA license required (IMLC accepted)
- Board: Board Certified in Urology required
- DEA: Yes
- Certifications: ACLS
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years experience preferred
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Provide 24-hour call coverage for urology emergencies and consultations.
- Round on inpatients and perform necessary procedures (cystoscopy, stent placement, lithotripsy, etc.).
- Consult with ED and other providers for urology-related issues including Foley catheter placement.
- Manage kidney stones, hematuria, testicular torsion, UTIs, and other urological conditions.
- Collaborate with Urology PA and inpatient support staff.
