Offshore Crane Operator
Job Summary
Looking for an Offshore Crane Operator for a hitch onboard a deepwater offshore drillship operating in the Gulf. This is a hands-on role supporting drilling, maintenance, and marine operations. Previous drillship experience is required. We're looking for someone who is comfortable making critical lifts in a busy offshore environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety and communication.
Responsibilities
- Operate pedestal cranes to move cargo, bulk materials, containers, tubulars, drilling equipment, and supplies between supply vessels and the rig.
- Support deck operations, maintenance projects, and rig moves as needed.
- Perform blind lifts, heavy lifts, and personnel transfers where permitted, working closely with deck crews, banksmen, and the bridge to ensure safe and efficient lifts.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of load charts, crane inspections, lifting gear, rigging practices, weather limitations, and permit-to-work procedures.
- Conduct routine crane inspections, identify equipment deficiencies, and assist with basic maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure safety and operational efficiency in a fast-paced offshore setting.
Requirements
- Previous drillship experience is mandatory.
- Valid Crane Operator Certification.
- Up-to-date resume demonstrating relevant experience.
- Certifications including BOSIET / FOET / THUET, RigPass or SafeGulf, TWIC, and a US Passport or government-issued ID.
- Strong knowledge of load charts, rigging practices, and safety procedures.
- Experience with blind lifts, heavy lifts, and personnel transfers (where permitted).
- Ability to perform routine crane inspections and basic maintenance.
- Comfortable working in a high-pressure environment supporting 24/7 offshore operations.
