Contract | 13–26 Weeks | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36 or 48 Hours Per Week | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 42-bed Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a primary focus on stroke, neurosurgery, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and other neurological diagnoses
- Perform IV insertion, continuous telemetry monitoring, and interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
- Utilize unit systems including EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR for charting and medication administration
- Float as required to other Med/Surg and Telemetry areas within the facility, which may include COVID care units
- Adhere to a preferred scheduling model; any missed shifts are expected to be made up within the same week or at the end of the contract
- Wear navy scrubs per unit dress code
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of direct Medical Surgical experience
- Must have completed at least 2 successful travel contracts — first-time travelers will not be considered
- BCLS certification required
- NIH / NIHSS certification required
- Demonstrated experience with telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and Med/Surg neuro care
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Local candidates are welcome to apply; a local pay rate will apply for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification preferred
- Prior experience caring for stroke or neurosurgical patient populations
- Familiarity with Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) workflows or neuro-specific monitoring
