Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 38-bed Medical Surgical unit managing a variety of diagnoses including pneumonia, UTI, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, and surgical cases (orthopedic, general surgery, spinal, and urology)
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6, with the ability to manage a 1:6 ratio; high turnover on day shift — expect admissions upon patient discharges
- Titrate drips including Heparin; administer set-rate drips such as Bumex and Lasix
- Conduct bedside shift report and perform proactive patient rounding
- Collaborate with CNAs, cardiac techs, respiratory therapy, and nursing supervisors available 24/7; may float to IMCU for Medical Surgical assignments
- Document accurately using EPIC electronic health records
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience
- Proficiency with EPIC documentation
- Ability to manage a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Experience with bedside shift report
- Must live at least 45 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for surgical patients including orthopedic, spinal, general surgery, and urology populations
- Familiarity with respiratory therapy equipment such as trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
- Strong teamwork skills including answering call lights and collaborating effectively with CNA staff
