Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) primarily engages in direct patient care, demonstrating competent clinical practice. This position involves triaging patients, obtaining their history and vital signs, and conducting thorough assessments. The RN acts independently to initiate immediate care during life-threatening situations in the absence of a physician and provides assistance in both acute and non-acute patient care. The role includes performing various nursing procedures, utilizing both complex and straightforward nursing skills, and assisting physicians with procedures. The RN is also responsible for offering physical and psychological comfort to patients, families, and visitors, along with providing clear discharge and follow-up instructions.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs Nursing Assessments: Conducts assessments, intervenes promptly, and collaborates on care planning (25%).
- Skilled Nursing Services: Regularly assesses patient needs and delivers nursing services as outlined in the physician's authorized plan of care (25%).
- Processes Physician Orders: Accurately and timely processes physician/provider orders and follows up on medication changes (20%).
- Evaluates Treatment Effectiveness: Assesses the effectiveness of treatment plans and suggests or facilitates necessary changes to enhance patient care (15%).
- Collaborates on Treatment Plans: Actively participates in updating and revising treatment plans with other team members using current information (15%).
Qualifications
- 2+ years of Emergency Room experience - required
- Travel experience - preferred
- Epic experience - preferred
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - required
- Active American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification - required
- Active Michigan RN License - required
- Skills checklist pertinent to the ER specialty, current to 1 year - required
- Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years - required
